Project Details
Promoting a new game on the market, GLS Design needed to establish its identity and communicate the type of game it produced while competing for attention among hundreds of game boards in toy and hobby stores. This board game was designed for adult players. The packaging, game board, cards, instructions and order forms all related to this specific professional audience. We addressed problems consistent with promoting a new game on the market: identity and communication of the type of game it was while competing for attention among hundreds of other games in toy and hobby stores. It was important to make the game easily understandable to a player looking at this game for the first time and to produce the game cost effectively.
Created a colorful, graphic game using map/ travel imagery to convey its international corporate trade scope. Large reversed type was used on the box cover to make it easy to ready on the shelf from a distance. Color-coding of continents and game cards was used for easy reference. Instructions were carefully written to make the game understandable to first-time players.
This project won The Art Directors of Denver Package design award. Our team was responsible for project management, including market research, graphic design, illustration, art direction, photographic selection, printing specifications and supervision of three different printers while maintaining quality control and consistency.
